  • Fred Anderson

    Fred Anderson got his start in 1970 at the age of 21, when he became the youngest Chevrolet dealer in the country. Fred's first dealership was a Chevrolet-Oldsmobile store in Canton, NC. Its success provided the capital and people to grow the company.

    After becoming one of the largest volume GM dealers in western North Carolina, Mr. Anderson started to expand with the acquisition of Nissan and Chrysler-Dodge dealerships in the early 1980's. In 1987, Mr. Anderson was awarded the opportunity to open a Toyota dealership in Raleigh, NC. Through years of hard work and dedication, that Toyota store has become a flagship operation, and one of the largest volume dealerships in the Southeastern United States. 

    With Mr. Anderson's leadership and guidance, Anderson Automotive Group has continued to expand. The business now includes eight dealerships representing the Toyota, Nissan, and Kia brands, and employs over 700 people. 

    Fred has served on the Board of Advisors of the College of Management at N.C. State University and at the business school at Western Carolina University. He has served on the Toyota National Dealer Council, the industry advisory panel to the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, the Board of Trustees for NCADA's Self Insurers Fund, the Investment Committee for NCADA, and the Board of Directors of NCADA. 

    Fred is involved in the charitable support of SafeChild, the Walk for Hope, The NC Museum of History and the Boy Scouts of America. The company has supported its communities in many other ways including funding for the Haywood Community Center, emergency relief efforts in several counties and DARE.

    Fred earned a bachelor degree from Western Carolina University.

  • Michael Anderson

    Michael Anderson was appointed President of Anderson Automotive Group in January 2014. Previous to his position as President, Michael was the COO and VP of Sales and Marketing.  Michael has also held positions as General Manager of Toyota Center in Columbia, SC, used car manager, finance manager and service advisor.

    As President, Michael is responsible for broad operations of the company's nine dealerships. The company Chief Operating Officer, Mike Brennan and the Chief Financial Officer, Robert (Bert) Smith, report directly to Michael.  He is a member of the company's Board of Directors and is a member of the executive management team which oversees all operations, strategy, HR and financial management.  

    Growing up in Raleigh, Michael attended Ravenscroft School.  He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, BA in Management Economics.  He holds an MBA from the Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University where he was awarded University Top Scholar and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma.

  • Mike Brennan
    Chief Operating Officer

    Mike Brennan joined the Anderson Automotive Group in June 2016 as Chief Operating Officer. Mike brings with him over 20 years in the automotive sector including retail, manufacturer, and distributorship experience.  Prior to becoming part of the AAG team, Mike was the Vice President of Sales for Southeast Toyota, the world's largest distributor of Toyota products. During his 13 year career at SET, Mike held a number of positions including VP of Marketing where he was responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing automotive-related marketing strategies. He oversaw digital and social advertising, media production, brand management, consumer incentives, customer experience and business unit strategy.

    Earlier in his career he was General Manager at Birmingham Peterbilt and spent five years working for Nissan North America in many different capacities.

    Mike earned a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Bellevue, graduating with Professional Distinction.  

  • Bert Smith
    Chief Financial Officer

    Bert Smith joined Anderson Automotive Group in May 2016 as Chief Financial Officer, bringing over 20 years of experience in corporate finance and banking.  Prior to joining AAG Bert served for six years as the North American CFO of The Body Shop, the global beauty products retail subsidiary of L'Oreal, where he helped lead a successful turnaround of the business and also served on an interim basis as its North American President.  Earlier in his career, Bert held executive finance leadership roles at The Home Depot - including as the divisional CFO for HD Direct - and he began his career as a commercial banker with SunTrust Banks.  Bert earned his MBA in finance and accounting from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, and he graduated with a BA in economics from The University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.  He is active in the Raleigh community, having served on the boards of BandTogether NC and Lucy Daniels Center.

  • Dave Hudson
    Vice Presient of Finance

    A CPA, Dave has 30 years of financial management experience in industry and public accounting.  A graduate of The College of William and Mary with a BBA in accounting, Dave started his career in public accounting with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells in Houston, Texas.  From his start as an auditor, Dave rose to become a manager in DH&S emerging business services department. Subsequently, Dave worked for 15 years with a billion-dollar subsidiary of Eastman Kodak headquartered in Durham, N.C.  Dave's final position at that company was senior vice president of finance and administration, as the company's only financial officer. Dave has been with Anderson Automotive Group since 2003.

  • Kathe Schwab
    Human Resources Director

    Kathe joined Anderson Automotive Group in 2008, bringing over 11 years of human resources and 7 years of operations management experience.  Kathe's career began in restaurant operations management for Pizza Hut, a subsidiary of PepsiCo. Subsequently, Kathe joined The Pantry, Inc. in Sanford, North Carolina where she was quickly promoted to Human Resources Director.  Kathe's experience with The Pantry includes value add human resources, talent acquisition, acquisition coordination, employee development and risk management. 

    As the Director, Human Resources for AAG, Kathe is responsible for the formation and implementation of the Human Resources strategy for the Company. Kathe holds an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Her undergraduate degree, BBA, is from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee with majors in Industrial Relations and Industrial Operations Management.  Kathe is a certified Senior Professional Human Resources professional and serves on the board of directors for Triangle Society of Human Resource Managers.

  • Aaron Hudson
    Marketing Director

    Aaron Hudson was appointed Marketing Director of Anderson Automotive Group in March 2017. Prior to this, Aaron served eCommerce Director for the company. He brings over 15 years of automotive industry experience, with the last 9 years focused on internet marketing and sales. Prior to joining AAG, Aaron served as Internet Marketing Manager for Capital Ford.

    As Marketing Director, Aaron works with the executive management team, dealership General Managers, and key business partners to create and implement a multichannel marketing plan. Aaron also manages several digital resources, including website platforms and CRM system for the company's eight dealerships.

    Aaron is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

  • Laura Madison
    Sales Development Director

    Laura Madison is a former top car salesperson, known as Laura Toyota, recognized for her use of social media within the automotive industry. She has been featured in Automotive News, Advertising Age, and Edmunds.com for her unique marketing and social media sales strategy. 

    As a training specialist, Laura has worked with some of the premier dealer groups in the U.S. and Canada. Before joining the Anderson Automotive Group Laura was the Vice President of Sales and Training for Alan Ram's Proactive Training Solutions where she hosted high-energy live training events and worked with salespeople and managers to dramatically increase productivity and sales.
